I’m producing the best work of my career!” “It’s a joy and privilege to work with Titan Comics and Blumhouse on this project. “I was immediately blown away by the depth of the characters, the perfect blend of action and gore, the urgent ecological message, and how all these things would translate beautifully into a graphic novel,” says illustrator Karl Stevens. The partnership with Titan has now given us a wonderful platform to begin to tell our story,” she adds. “I have long admired and collected Karl’s work, and I’m very excited he suggested expanding the idea to turn it into a graphic novel. “I’ve always been aware of the very unbalanced relationship between humans and nature, and even though I was young, I always knew that, inevitably, nature would win.” “I first thought about this story when I was 19 years old,” says Curtis. The rebellious Nova wages a campaign of sabotage and vandalism against the oil giant, un til one night she accidentally makes a terrifying discovery about the true nature of the “Mother Nature” project and the long-dormant, vengeful entity it has awakened that threatens to destroy them all. The press release explains, “Titan Comics is thrilled to be publishing Mother Nature, the terrifying debut eco-horror graphic novel by Hollywood legend Jamie Lee Curtis. Minor issues aside this book’s presentation stellar in every regard.Īs you may recall, Jamie Lee Curtis will be directing a horror movie for Blumhouse titled Mother Nature, and she has also co-written the graphic novel adaptation for Titan Comics! The mysteries and intrigue grow leaps and bounds each issue, always leaving you salivating for more. Roche Limit’s second series continues to impress just as much as the original. Clandestiny’s cast of characters is decently sized and to be honest I don’t have everyone’s names down yet so when they look alike it’s befuddling. Their hair and faces look almost identical, yes there are subtle differences but they’re not noticeable enough. Sasha and Kim look far too alike, the first few times I read the flashback scene I thought it was Sasha’s flashback. My only problem with this issue comes from a mildly confusing art choice. The mysteries just keep piling up in an exceptionally exciting way making every tidbit of info thrilling. Additionally we learn they’re not afraid of fire but still avoid it because it’d burn them, indicating that there’s a certain degree of intelligence. Interestingly they can be hurt by conventional weaponry to some degree. Coupled with another new development in this issue they feel almost supernatural, which is intriguing for a Sci-Fi book. They may not even be ‘beasts’, in fact I’d say it’s a safe bet to say that they’re much more than any animal. It’s unclear if these are the exact same ones from the epilogue or if they’re possibly descendants from those beasts. That’s right, entirely black beasts, exactly like the ones from the epilogue of Roche Limit #5. It also cements the black beasts as a force not to be fucked with. The issue kicks off with one of the raddest involuntary lobotomies I’ve ever seen. Something sinister is brewing and it threatens to consume them all. No one is safe and disaster lays in wait around every corner. While last issue flirted with the potential dangers of Dispater’s wasteland they are on full display here. Our heroes begin to face off against some truly insidious creatures and encounter some unexpected help. ![]() “Roche Limit: Clandestiny” #2 ups the ante with an action packed issue. ![]()
